I CAN Have My Cake and Eat it Too!

I've been a diet controlled diabetic for a couple years now. During that time I gave up just about everything I enjoyed to keep my numbers within range and stay off meds. I'm pretty lazy and frugal when it comes to experimenting with foods so I need easy, frugal, tasty, low carb recipes or I'm not interested. After purchasing Melissa's book I can once again eat the most delicious dishes ... including cake! Yes cake, with frosting, for only 4.5 net carbs. I'm not talking a teeny bite of cake or a see-through sliver;I'm talking a big hunk of the most delicious, moist, flavorful, wonderful, easy and FUN to make cake. The recipes in this book are easy with step by step instructions and the most gorgeous, clear photos. If you want some fresh, new, delicious Low Carb recipes (a must for diabetics) then you want this book. Easy recipes, delicious and beautiful photos

Been following Melissa Sevigny's blog with her wonderful recipes of which I've made several so it was a no-brainer to buy the book.

Sevigny's recipes have been time-tested and tweaked to make them easy to prepare and delicious for everyone. I like that she is able to pull from a standard base of ingredients without resorting to exotic hard to get items.

I had others ask about the delicious 'Better than Potatoes' Cheesy Cauliflower Puree which I brought to a Thanksgiving dinner. I have low net-carb flax crust pizza at least once a week and enjoyed flax crackers. Hoping to make more of the recipes as I've dropped 45 pounds eating low-carb the past eight months and now with this book I can expand what I can cook and eat.

I love to cook and like a good cook Sevigny is like a mad-scientist figuring out her delicious dishes.

Full of Great Ideas!

This cookbook has so many amazing ideas!
The crackers have been a lifesaver, and the cauliflower is perfect!
I must thank the author for all the work she has done developing these recipes.
I'm going to make a huge bag of crackers for my daugther to take back to college.
She is allergic to gluten, and is so happy she can have hummus with crackers now!!

Lifesaver

Very good if you want to understand why you are the way you are and what to do about it. It helped me at a time in my life when I needed to know so much and felt lost and uncertain about what to do with my life. I learned to put my "parents" experience in it's proper place, how to enjoy my "child" and how to be an "adult". If everyone got what I got out of it, the world would be a better place. When you become a victim, or a persecuter or an enabler you are a slave. When you become a non-judgemental "adult" life is a lot more pleasant both for you and those you deal with. But it takes time to absorb and to change and you have to do a lot of thinking, feeling and understanding along the way.

I first read this book in the early 1970s while I was a psychology major in college. I decided to pick it up again. Although the setting has changed - different wars and an altered political map - it is clear that people have not.

It may seem a little confusing at first, but if you stick with it, a new way of thinking about conversations emerges. The Parent - Adult -Child axis is still incredibly helpful in understanding our own behavior and that of others, and in providing a language with which to find a way of understanding.

I remember from my Social Worker class that the Transactional Analysis is the concept of the Parent, Adult, and Child ( P-A-C) ego states that are compose every one of our personalities.
The Parent ego state contains all the information we accept as true that we have gathered from authority figures including our parents.
The Adult ego state is the collection of all information that we have proven to ourselves as being true using our personal logic.
The Child ego state is our natural good and bad side of feelings - love, anger, greed, empathy
To understand yourself or others this is the book to read it will at least give you a break down on possible situations, feelings either your own or somebody's else.

The book explores the dynamics leading to the consolidation of Kurdish minority awareness in contemporary Syria; an ongoing process that could take the form of radicalization or even violence.

About the Author

Jordi Tejel is a Ph.D. in History (University of Fribourg, Switzerland) and Sociology (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales-EHESS, Paris). He is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the EHESS, Paris. His research interests focus on nationalism in the Middle East, with a particular interest in Kurdish mobilizations in the interwar period. He is the author of several books and articles, including Le mouvement kurde de Turquie en exil. Continuit�s et discontinuit�es du nationalisme kurde sous le mandat fran�ais en Syrie et au Liban (1925-1946).

A Beautiful, Heartwarming Story

If you are considering purchasing this book, consider no more. This book is the story of Auggie's best friend, Christopher. I recommend reading Wonder first if you have not read it already. It talks about Auggie's past and elaborates more on his time with Christopher, things that Auggie did not talk about in Wonder. This book will stick with you for a long time, and if you enjoyed this, I recommend purchasing Shingaling and The Julian Chapter as well. Fantastic job, R.J. Palacio.

I really liked this book, and it is a sequel to Wonder. This book is about standing up to what is right.But what really confused me was the end, and some of the parts. For instance, why August( a character) got so upset accepting the fact that Pluto was not a planet. Also, the ending of this book had a poem I couldn't decipher.But I have to say, this is a good book...

If you like the wonder books, this is for you. It shows Auggies story from Chris' point of view. It also shows some of the drama going on in chris' life. Its great. Just finished reading for, like, the 6th time. 5 stars, everybody!
